35 minIf you buy your protein bars consider making these. They are quick and easy to make and will save you a fortune. Apart from being very tasty, they have no additional sugar and are gluten free.
Fruit & Nut Protein Bar
INGREDIENTS
For the Base
150 ml liquid egg whites
75g chopped dates
60g vanilla pea protein powder
120ml almond milk
40g coconut flour
40g roasted, chopped hazelnuts, almonds or walnuts
For the Top
60ml almond milk
40g cocoa powder
2 tbsp date or agave syrup
40g chocolate pea protein powder
METHOD
Preheat oven to 160C.
Line a small loaf tin with baking parchment.
In a bowl, combine all the ingredients for the base together until you get a batter and pour into the tin.
In a separate bowl, blend all the ingredients for the top layer. Spoon dollops of the the chocolate mixture on top of the base batter and spread carefully.
Bake for about 30 – 35 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean.
Leave to cool in the tin for about 5 minutes then turn out and leave to cool completely.
Slice into bars and enjoy.
